Sonja Pagniano, is the executive director of the NCPA Foundation.
Sonja has spent her career at the intersection of philanthropy, public service, and community resilience. As Executive Director of the NCPA Foundation, she leads the only U.S. foundation dedicated exclusively to supporting independent community pharmacists; championing programs that help pharmacists start, sustain, and strengthen their practices in communities that need them most.
Under Sonja’s leadership, the Foundation has grown significantly, launching initiatives like the Rural Pharmacy Ownership Accelerator, disaster relief programs, and workforce development efforts that reach pharmacists and students across the country.
Before joining the Foundation, Sonja served as Development Manager at the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, where she worked at the intersection of donor strategy and long-term disaster recovery. Her earlier career includes roles in higher education advancement at The College of Wooster and community planning at the Medina County Department of Planning Services and Fair Housing. Sonja holds a Master of Public Administration from Kent State University and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). She lives in Wooster, Ohio.
Katja C. Edwards is an operations and program management professional with extensive experience in international education, stakeholder engagement, and mission-driven administration. A lifelong learner, Katja holds Bachelor’s in Communications and Master’s in Visual Culture. She is a multilingual communicator, proficient in English, Slovenian, Croatian, and German, and holds professional certifications in Salesforce and Learning Experience Design (LXD).

Over the years, Michael has worked in just about every corner of the nonprofit world…from operations and data to fundraising and medical coordination. He knows how to pitch in wherever he’s needed and figure things out as he goes. He’s the kind of person who brings both a steady hand and a warm presence to the teams he joins.
When he’s not working, you’ll find Michael traveling the world, behind a drum kit or guitar, or volunteering at humane societies. He is thrilled at the opportunity to bring his experience and his heart for rural communities to the NCPA Foundation.
