The NCPA Foundation improves community-based health care by advancing the sustainability, growth, and public understanding of independent community pharmacists, the most accessible health care providers. Our work is organized into three areas, each designed to keep independent pharmacies open, owned locally, and serving their communities.
When disaster strikes, independent pharmacies are often among the first health care providers to reopen. We provide relief grants to help affected pharmacies recover, along with preparedness resources so they can protect their patients, staff, and business before the next emergency.
We invest in the people who will own and lead independent pharmacies and in practice models that strengthen patient care. This includes pharmacy transitions and first-time ownership, maternal health through independent community pharmacies, and safe medication disposal.
We support student pharmacists interested in independent practice through scholarships, the NCPA Student Business Plan Competition, and the Pharmacy Ownership and Leadership Academy with UAMS.
